What is Operation Christmas Child?

Our mission is to impact Waco and the World by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. One of the ways we do this is through the efforts of Operation Christmas Child. OCC delivers great hope to millions of children around the world through the Good News of Jesus Christ! We are calling all Columbus Avenuers to join in this excellent effort by lovingly and prayerfully packing a shoebox with gifts that will bring hope through evangelism and discipleship around the world. Shoe boxes will be available year-round in the CABC Missions office.For further questions, please contact David Villarreal.

Additionally, we now have an "item of the month" as we will have a year-round emphasis. Here is a list of items to donate for the OCC “item of the month.” However, if you see an item at a bargain price, grab it. You can turn items into the CABC Missions office.  Thank you for your efforts each month to purchase items to benefit children around the world!

 

2023 Monthly Collection List and Packing Party

January:

• WOW Items (fun, special gifts): Fishing hooks and line, flashlights (with extra batteries), musical instruments (kazoos, harmonica, etc.), small cars, small dolls, small stuffed animals, small toys (puppets, trucks, small etch-a-sketch), small lego kits, play-doh, small games, toys that light up or make noise.

February:

• Non-Liquid Hygiene Items:  toothbrushes, small tissues, mild bar soap, wash cloths, brushes/combs, fun bandaids, lip balms

March

• School supplies: pens/pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, crayons, markers, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, small coloring/picture/sticker books, erasers, dry paint sets, scissors, glue sticks, stamps/ink pads

April:

• Clothing and accessories:  hair clips, bows or ties, watches, toy jewelry, stickers, compact mirrors, children’s underwear or shoes

May

• School supplies: pens/pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, crayons, markers, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, small coloring/picture / sticker books, erasers, dry paint sets, scissors, glue sticks, stamps/ink pads

June:

• Summer Items:  children’s t-shirts (plain, no writing), smaller flip flops, small slip-on sandals, smaller balls, uninflated soccer balls & pumps, jump ropes, summer toys, sunglasses, hats/ball caps

July

• WOW Items (fun special gifts): small cars, small dolls, small stuffed animals, small toys (puppets, trucks, small etch-a-sketch), kazoos/harmonica, yo-yos / slinkys, small lego kits, play-doh, small games, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), flashlights, musical instruments, playing cards.

August:

• School Supplies: pens/pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, crayons, markers, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, small coloring/picture/sticker books, erasers, dry paint sets, scissors, glue sticks, stamps/ink pads.

September:

November:

• OCC PACKING PARTY - On November 19th at 3:00PM, we will host our annual OCC Packing Party in the Fellowship Hall in which individuals, families or small groups can pack their own shoeboxes with items already donated and available at the event. Our Packing Party will provide hundreds of shoeboxes filled with gifts to children around the world, and provide an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

  A $10 donation per shoebox (to Samaritan's Purse) is required to cover shipping. COME and join as we enjoy a time of service and fellowship while providing hope to children all over the world!

 

Do Not Donate:  used or damaged items, war toys, any liquids (including toothpaste), candy, food, any glass items, aerosol cans.
