"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me...And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"
Matthew 25:35
Del Rio/Ciudad Acuña
The Texas Baptists River Ministry is working hard to reach the immigrants and refugees who arrive at the Texas-Mexico border every day. Currently, sixteen Texas Baptists River Ministry coordinators/missionaries work tirelessly to coordinate food, medical and Gospel-centered ministry for thousands crossing the border. Family unit apprehensions rose in the Del Rio sector from 1,977 during the last fiscal year to 25,085 this year. Last year apprehended immigrants came from 37 countries, while this year they have come from 68 countries.

We are called to witness to the world that the church is a divine, distinctive social order, a global yet traditional shared life-world that alone shapes communities into economies of grace through the resources of the Christian gospel. As such, the church is in the unique position to be able to mediate between otherwise incompatible yet reciprocal sociopolitical dynamics that characterize the modern world. The nations have come to us and as the church, we here at Columbus Avenue are called to be a part of a kingdom work that transcends political lines, as we minister to people from around the world and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
