Education Ministry Assistant/Receptionist Position Description
Columbus Avenue Baptist Church Job Description
The Education Ministry Assistant provides support to the Executive Pastor, Minister to College, and Minister to Youth and maintains accurate records related to the program organizations of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
Supervisors: Executive Pastor
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist in correspondence and communication with program organizations for which the Executive Pastor is responsible
Create and maintain a record of all church prospects, keep prospect information current and organized, and distribute weekly church prospect information to church staff
Order quarterly literature and other literature as needed, crate and maintain literature information in computer and office files, copying and setting up of commentaries
Assist in special materials and publications for program organizations/ministries of the church
Receive and process Child Youth Protection Policy background checks; maintain current and accurate information on computer and in office file
Maintain and update Educational Web Pages in order to provide accurate and current programming information and schedules.
Oversee the maintenance of the weekly attendance report
Assist with special ministry/organization programs throughout year
Attend events, as necessary, for administrative purposes
Assist the Minister to College and Minister to Youth in managing and filing purchase orders, room and vehicle reservations, and other administrative paperwork.
Act as Church Receptionist in answering phones, covering front desk, etc.
Assist church staff on church wide mail-outs and other tasks as required
Assist Director of Financial Services with processing and other clerical duties as requested.
Help and assist other staff members as needed.
Update college web pages as needed or as directed by the Minister to College and Minister to Youth.
Manage requests and schedule for weekly small group and Sunday School Leaders.
Serve on monthly rotation for front desk at Wednesday Café Central and monthly for office front desk for a Sunday Morning during Sunday School.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must present a kind and receptive demeanor to individuals and businesses making contact with the church office in person or by phone.
Be familiar with and utilize Microsoft Office software along with Shelby church software and record keeping.
Be a good steward with the resources God has provided to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church (Matthew 25:21).
Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner to glorify Christ and further the mission and ministry purposes of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church (Colossians 3:23, 24).
Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in Columbus Avenue Baptist Church’s Bylaws and Policies and Procedures Manual.
SCHEDULE AND WORK WEEK
This is a full-time position with up to 40 hours per week as scheduled by the Executive Pastor .
EVALUATION AND COMPENSATION
A Performance Evaluation and Development Form will be completed with the Executive Pastor on an annual basis. Compensation is reviewed annually.
