"You shall stand up in the presence of the grayheaded and honor elders, and you shall fear your God; I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:32

Meals on Wheels

Our mission is to impact Waco and the world for Jesus Christ. One way we do this locally is through the efforts of Meals on Wheels (MOW). God has called His church to honor and care for the elderly, the vulnerable, and the afflicted in our society today. MOW Waco is one way Columbus Avenue has responded to this call.

MOW Waco seeks to nourish the bodies, minds, and spirits of older adults in the Heart of Texas through meals, activities, transportation, and volunteer support. Meals on Wheels Waco is a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing support services for the older adults in the City of Waco, as well as Falls, Hill, and McLennan Counties. Meals on Wheels provides for over 850 homebound elderly, with lunches for 12 Senior Centers, and operates a transit program in McLennan County. How to Get Involved:

Columbus Avenue Baptist Church is proud to be a preparation site. This means that we host Meals on Wheels out of the Fireside Room in the CENTER. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. volunteers can do one of two things:
  • help prepare the meals for drivers to pick up
  • take a delivery route to bring prepared meals to several families at a time.
As with many areas currently, COVID-19 has created an even greater need to get one of the most essential needs to the elderly and homebound community. Preparing food or helping deliver meals are two of the greatest areas of need for this ministry. This is a well-established organization, and a great way to help serve the Waco community.
For more information about this ministry and how to get involved, contact our Minister of Missions, David Villarreal, directly at 254.537.9311 or you can email david.villarreal@cabcwaco.org You can also fill out this interest form, and someone will get back to you.
